The 2008 Convention will be held in Cleveland from June 22-25, 2008, at the Marriott Cleveland East, located just minutes from the heart of Jewish Cleveland. Librarians, archivists, and scholars from
numerous disciplines will meet to share their interest in Judaica
librarianship and related areas.
The keynote speaker on Sunday evening will be Dr. Ellen Frankel, editor-in-chief and CEO of the Jewish Publication Society. Her appearance at the AJL convention will coincide with JPS's 120th anniversary.
Convention attendees will be offered the chance to go offsite on Monday evening to enjoy a light supper at The Temple - Tifereth Israel, where they can view a special exhibit of Jewish books designed by Sue Koletsky, museum director of the the temple's Museum of Religious Art. After dinner, there will be a tour of the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage which is just steps away from the temple.
A special post-convention celebration of children's books in honor of the 40th anniversary of the Sydney Taylor Book Awards is being planned for Wednesday, June 25.
