Publications
The AJL publishes or sponsors:
Serials—the scholarly journal Judaica Librarianship, the quarterly Newsletter, and the annual AJL Convention Proceedings.
Print monographs—in the area of Judaica librarianship, including bibliographies and reference works.
Online resources—some available to AJL members only.
Members and non-members can order monographs; AJL members receive a reduced price. Some monographs are available from Internet sources only. Others are available only from the VP for Publications. For specific information on what’s available, from what source, and what form of payment is required, consult the order form.
Recently published monographs:
Creating a Collection: A Resource Booklist for a Beginning Judaic Library, 5th ed., by Merrily Hart. This is a very useful annotated subject bibliography, a guide to developing a core collection in a synagogue, school, or community center library.
Online resources include the Weine Classification Scheme documents (available in this format to AJL members only); the Bibliography Bank, a free resource of bibliographies compiled by AJL members; the Jewish Valuesfinder, a free searchable database that identifies quality Jewish children’s books, and since 2001 the AJL Convention Proceedings.
A limited supply of back issues of Judaica Librarianship and the Proceedings are available. See the order form. Back issues of the Newsletter may be requested from Yossi Galron.
