Publications
The AJL publishes or sponsors:
- Serials: the scholarly journal Judaica Librarianship, the quarterly Newsletter, and the annual AJL Convention Proceedings.
- Print monographs in the area of Judaica librarianship, including bibliographies and reference works.
- Online resources, some available to AJL members only.
Members and nonmembers can order print monographs; AJL members receive a reduced price. To order, complete the order form and send with your check or money order (in US dollars) made payable to the Association of Jewish Libraries to the address on the form. Prepayment is required.
Orders shipping outside the United States, please add $20 per order.
Recent print monographs:
1) Collection Development in Smaller Judaica Libraries by Susan Freiband — containing useful, practical information and an annotated bibliography to assist with collection development. 2006.
2) Jewish Classics for Kids by Linda Silver — an annotated bibliography of a classic canon of Jewish books for children. 2006.
Online resources include the Weine Classification Scheme documents (available in this format to AJL members only); the Bibliography Bank, a free resource of bibliographies compiled by AJL members; and the Jewish Valuesfinder, a free searchable database that identifies quality Jewish children’s books.
A limited supply of back issues of Judaica Librarianship and the Proceedings are available. See the order form. Back issues of the Newsletter may be requested from Yossi Galron.
