Katchen Memorial Grant
In order to support catalogers and library school students seeking
to further their knowledge of Hebraica/Judaica cataloging and/or participate
in and contribute Hebraica records to national cooperative cataloging
programs, a monetary grant is made to a qualified applicant. The amount
of money granted varies from year to year, depending on resources available
in this fund. Examples of activities that the award supports would be:
- Attending a course or workshop on Hebraica or Judaica cataloging,
including one at the AJL Annual Convention
- Attending training sponsored by the Program for Cooperative Cataloging
such as NACO, SACO, or Series Authority Training
- Attending a workshop or advanced course at Bar Ilan University or
the Hebrew University in Israel at their graduate schools of library,
archive, and information studies
Contributions to the scholarship
fund are gratefully accepted. If they are bestowed in someone's
honor or memory, a card will be sent to the individual or family.
